Pathway to Leadership
AAGP invites members to get involved and seek leadership positions on committees and on the Board of Directors. The organization needs a continual infusion of active volunteers and leaders in order to grow and prosper. If you aspire to join the Board of Directors, use the AAGP committee structure to demonstrate your commitment and experience. Take this opportunity to shape the future of your association.
- Join a committee and actively participate. AAGP is an organization of volunteers, and those who are willing to dedicate time and effort are welcome. Contact your committee chair and ask how you can help.
- Seek a committee chair position. Talk with your committee chair or other AAGP leaders about how you can take on an increased role in a committee, perhaps as chair of a sub-committee or as a committee vice-chair. Committee chairs turn over every three years, and new volunteers are always needed.
- Run for the Board of Directors. Submit your application to the AAGP Nominations Committee. Your participation and leadership on AAGP committees or other task forces and projects will be heavily weighted by the nominations committee.
How to Join a Committee
Contact the Committee Chair directly, or attend any of the committee meetings during the annual meeting. Any member is welcome to attend a committee meeting without officially joining. Stop by and decide if you'd like to get more involved. Learn more about AAGP's committees and find committee chair contacts: http://www.aagponline.org/members/com_structure.asp.
